This just keeps getting uglier

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Breaking the law is nothing new for “president’ Donald Trump. It is bad enough that he gets away with it, but when he encourages citizens to break the law, he has crossed the line. Trump suggested to voters in North Carolina that they should vote twice, once by mail and once in person. He claims that this is the best way to determine whether mail-in voting works.

Really, Trump? North Carolina Attorney Josh Stein reminded Trump that voting twice is illegal and declared that Trump is encouraging North Carolina citizens “to break the law in order to help him sow chaos in our election.” Sowing chaos is what Trump does best. Coming to Trump’s rescue, as he always does, William Barr told CNN that “I don’t know what the law in the particular state says.” Idiot. Voting twice is illegal, period, though the punishment may vary per state. According to ABC News, voting twice in North Carolina is a Class I felony.

Trump has proven time and again that he will do literally anything to get re-elected. From ignoring Russia’s proven interference to claiming China is helping Joe Biden, Trump reeks of desperation. He thinks the rest of us are too dumb to see it, yet many are seeing just that. Huffington Post reported that 81 Nobel Prize winners are backing Joe Biden, releasing a letter stating as much. “At no time in our nation’s history has there been a greater need for our leaders to appreciate the value of science in formulating policy.” They are not talking about Donald Trump. They discussed Biden’s long tenure in public service and point to his “willingness to listen to experts” and to recognize “contributions that immigrants make to the intellectual life of our country.” Both are true.

Immigrants have no desire to “take over” this country. They bring their own cultural perspectives and assimilate into American life, and many of them make contributions that some of us cannot. Indeed, PBS states that: “The United States is the nation that exists because of immigrant contributions.” The Brookings Institute echoes that sentiment. They contribute in many ways, the least of which is economic. Who are we to say they do not belong?

In addition to Nobel laureates, Vote Vets is vocal that the U.S. military no longer supports Trump. Their latest video describes Trump as “panicking” because his favorability rating among active-duty troops and officers has plummeted. Huffington Post reported that 41% plan to vote for Joe Biden with 37% supporting Trump, and those numbers will continue in that direction. Vote Vets believes that Trump “disrespects those who serve,” leaning on the recent news about Russian bounties on troops and his attempts to use the military for his own purposes.

Donald Trump is all the things Vote Vets says: He is disrespectful, he thumbs his nose at national security, and he is an embarrassment. Trump absolutely must go in November. As is popular to say, vote like your lives depend on it because they do.
