Let’s talk about irony. Irony can often be quite amusing, even delightful. Irony often is a great big, sweeping infectious belly laugh. So let me, dear readers, tell you a little story of irony. The Department of Defense runs many schools, and right now, there are book purges going on at said schools.
This is because as you know, Republicans hate anything to do with education and learning, but most of all, most of all, they hate, absolutely despise. books, those priceless antiques, works of art each one of them, filled with knowledge, that allow one’s imagination to fly, granting all readers the freedom to think for oneself.
So yes, there are books being pulled as we speak. These books are being pulled from the schools’ libraries that the Department of Defense runs. There are about 67,000 children who attend the schools. And it’s just a pity that the Department of Defense under the Trump administration doesn’t want these children to be independent thinkers, so yes, here, there, and everywhere, very sadly, they are ripping books from the library, especially books that have any themes of gender identity, or of racism.
But, my friends, some books one would not expect to make into the pile ARE in fact making it into the pile. Some books that one would never think of, are now being seriously looked over to see whether they can remain in the schools.
I’ve read many of the potentially banned books but ONE of these books in particular, this writer read and didn’t think much of at all! This book could’ve been better than it was, this writer mused. Anyway this book is now being seriously looked at to see whether it can even remain in school libraries. That book is Hillbilly Elegy by our current vice president. Oh, how I do adore irony.
