This jury note sounds like they’re about to convict Donald Trump
I’ve cautioned that it can be tricky to interpret a note from the jury. Just because the jury is showing an interest in testimony from a certain witness, it doesn’t mean the jury is leaning one way or the other with regard to believing that witness. But now that the full nature of this jury note has been revealed, it sounds like the jury is looking to convict Trump.
During Trump’s closing argument yesterday, his defense attorney insisted that the Trump Tower meeting wasn’t about catch and kill. But prosecution witnesses testified that the meeting was about catch and kill. The jury just requested the testimony from Pecker and Cohen that shows as much. So the jury appears to be looking back at the testimony to confirm that Trump’s defense attorney was wrong in his claim.
If that’s the case, then the jury is looking to convict Donald Trump, and wants to make sure that Trump’s core argument was indeed refuted by these witnesses. Again, it can be tricky to try to interpret jury notes. But this sure looks like the jury is siding with the prosecution and is just looking to get there. Stay tuned.
