Johnny votes Democrat when he votes at all. But he doesn’t follow or care about day to day political news. He just hears his Democratic friends loudly whining all year about how the Democrats have supposedly done “nothing” so he figures that if his Democratic friends are down on the Democrats, he shouldn’t even bother to vote this time. This is how we lose.

Fred votes Republican when he votes at all. But he doesn’t follow or care about day to day political news. He just hears his Republican friends loudly amplifying the Republican party’s messaging, so he figures that since his Republican friends are happy with the Republicans, he should probably make the effort to vote. This is how they win.
