This is what winning looks like!
There are times when many of you tell me that you rely on me to help you figure out what’s going on in politics and decipher what it all means. Then there are weeks like this one, where it’s all pretty obvious. The sheer joyfulness of the Democratic National Convention. The Obamas. The energy. Kamala Harris packing a large arena in Milwaukee on the same night her supporters have also packed a large arena in Chicago. And Trump melting down because he sees it all getting away from him.
All I can really tell you about what we’ve watched these past few nights is that this is what winning looks like. When your candidate is a winner, when your message is inspiring, when your party is united, when your bench is deep, when you know you’re winning and you can see that the other side also knows you’re winning, this is how it feels.
This is the part where I tell you that although we are definitely winning, it’s still not safe to rest on our laurels and assume we’ll win. From voter suppression, to the Electoral College, to increasingly inaccurate polls, there are numerous reasons why no lead is safe. And we’re not that far ahead. Kamala’s best polls have her up by six points. She’s only ahead by 2-3 points in the polling averages. Does that sound like something you want to leave to chance?
The Obamas weren’t kidding when they said that this election is still a competitive one. And while it’s a shame that this is the case, we don’t have the luxury of being able to waste time lamenting about it. All we can do is roll up our sleeves and put in more work and get more votes for Kamala and make absolutely certain she wins.
If you’ve been waiting and wondering what role you can play in the real world in this election, now is the time. You’re feeling fully inspired by the convention. You want this feeling to continue. You understand the assignment. The Kamala Harris campaign has done a brilliant thing by setting up a single unified portal that alerts you to everything from rallies to phone banking opportunities just by putting in your zip code. So go to go.kamalaharris.com right now and get started and let’s help turn “we’re winning” into “we won!”
