This is whacked out, even for Donald Trump
Palmer Report has previously reported on the feigned outrage that some Republicans had about the statement that House manager Adam Schiff made toward the end of his closing. Schiff stated: “CBS News reported last night that a Trump confidant said that key senators were warned, ‘Vote against the president and your head will be on a pike.’ I don’t know if that’s true.” Some Republican Senators have stated that until then, they were open to arguments that the House Democrats were making, but no more, because Schiff’s remark offended them.
On Sunday morning, Trump took to Twitter, and started tweeted what appears to be not so veiled threats against Schiff. He didn’t simply criticize Schiff, or say that he was wrong, but instead this: “Shifty Adam Schiff is a CORRUPT POLITICIAN, and probably a very sick man. He has not paid the price, yet, for what he has done to our Country!”
Walter Shaub stated the situation well in a tweet that followed Trump’s threats to Schiff, tweeting: “This is who Republican Senators are covering up for. He has repeatedly attempted to solicit foreign attacks on our election, encouraged DOJ to go after his political rivals, violated the Constitution by blocking congressional oversight, and lied to us. Now he pledges revenge.”
Republicans who continue to act as codependents of Trump, for whatever benefits they believe they obtain in the bargain, better wake up. Continuing to permit Trump to have carte blanche to commit whatever offenses against the nation he pleases will have dire consequences, including an increasingly emboldened and dangerous IMPOTUS, and retribution against his political opponents. It is a dangerous place they are taking us, and despite their fake tears about how they’re not afraid of Trump, they should address it now – or they’ll suffer the political consequences.
