This is turning into a real page turner
The plot twists of this real-life thriller are riveting. From legal dramas, to corruption, international spies, and sex, in just the past two weeks there have been important court rulings, shocking leaks, and bombshell revelations. And the timing is no coincidence.
Starting with court drama that could implicate Republican officials before and after the election, in Trump’s election interference case Judge Tanya Chutkan ordered Jack Smith to disclose all evidence of Trump’s acts surrounding January 6th. On September 26th, this hearing could even implicate Clarence Thomas.
Speaking of SCOTUS, news that could only have been leaked by one of the nine justices revealed that Chief Justice John Roberts manipulated the Supreme Court. Justices Roberts, Thomas, and Alito are all gravely compromised. A real possibility under a Harris administration could be for one or more of them to step down.
Moving on to spies, US intelligence officials just revealed that the Iranian hackers who shared Trump campaign emails with the media this summer also sent the stolen information to the Biden campaign. Biden’s campaign disclosed the incident and refused to make the emails public. But the Trump campaign demanded to know what was shared, amping up the suspense!
In the documentary “From Russian With Lev” that just aired on The Rachel Maddow Show, Lev Parnas tells all, from his beginnings as a corrupt Wall Street grifter, to spying for, then flipping on Trump. Halfway through the film, the election of Zelensky shifts it into high gear before ending in a cliffhanger. Part two coming soon?
From spies to sex, a scandal dropped about Trump-backed North Carolina GOP gubernatorial candidate, Mark Robinson. CNN revealed Robinson’s dark past, about which he proudly declared, “I’m a perv’ too!” Robinson refused to withdraw, and his name remains on the ballot. In one of the most important swing states, following this revelation, North Carolina turned from lean Democrat to likely Democrat.
But wait, there’s more sex! New York magazine Washington correspondent Olivia Nuzzi who wrote a series of hit pieces on President Biden, had a personal relationship with RFK Jr.. She has now been suspended, but given her past, why didn’t it happen sooner?
Sex and corruption combine with the arrest of Sean “Diddy” Combs who is being held without bail for sex trafficking. It turns out that Combs was also one of several right-wing billionaires who assisted Musk’s takeover of Twitter.
In a related story, the SEC just disclosed that Musk himself defied a federal judge’s order to testify as part of the SEC’s investigation into his shady acquisition of Twitter. But as we’ve also just learned with his case in Brazil, Musk will probably cave and end up testifying.
So, while the QAnon-crazed GOP have spent years falsely accusing and threatening to lock up Democrats, they are being outed and locked up for those very crimes. Despite the DOJ under Merrick Garland getting three separate grand juries to issue three indictments of Trump on 44 felonies, the Garland bashing continues.
Ironically, this bad take stems from a years-long double smear campaign of Biden and Garland by the same Russian propaganda machine that Garland indicted twice in the past two weeks. Garland’s incremental approach to justice has the intended goal of leaving our judicial system intact when this saga finally ends. On November 5th you can write the dramatic conclusion.
