This is the biggest story in all of politics right now and it’s STILL being fully ignored

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Dan Rather doesn’t tweet often, but when he does, he’s one of the more honest and insightful political observers out there (if you’re not following him, you should). So I wasn’t surprised when Rather called out Donald Trump’s decision to cancel his upcoming rallies, and asked why the media isn’t covering such a major story.

But I was a bit surprised that even the great Dan Rather seems to be accepting the Trump campaign’s leaked explanation that Trump’s rallies are simply too expensive to keep holding. Why would anyone accept this explanation on its face? First of all, you never take Trump and his people at their word. Nor do you take the media at its word whenever it’s clearly just regurgitating whatever Trump and his people have fed them.

It’s also absurd to suggest that Trump’s campaign rallies are too expensive, given that they’re prime in-person high-pressure fundraising opportunities. There’s no way Trump isn’t walking out of each rally with more money than he spent on hosting the rally. So the notion that his canceled rallies are part of a campaign funding crunch is just sort of laugh out loud absurd.

On top of it all, it’s just so logically and circumstantially obvious why Trump’s handlers pulled the plug on his rallies when they did. Each time Trump gave a rally speech, he came off as completely senile, and generated 48 hours worth of headlines about how badly his dementia has progressed. Of late his rally speeches have been growing even more and more embarrassing. So of course his handlers pulled the plug on his rallies. The “we can’t afford it” narrative is pretty obviously just an excuse to distract rom the fact that Trump can’t afford to keep being seen as fully senile or he’ll never make it to November.

I continue to be exasperated as to why I seem to be perhaps the only person in the entire political media and analyst sphere who’s put together that Trump’s handlers canceled his rallies because of his worsening senility. It’s just such an obvious conclusion. It’s also the biggest story in all of politics. Think about it: a presumptive major party nominee for President of the United States is so senile, his handlers are indefinitely pulling him off the campaign trail and making up laughably flimsy excuses for why they’re doing it. Why would anyone not be talking about it?
