This is pathetic, even for Rudy Giuliani

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The ‘no reasonable person would believe I was serious’ defense. Yes. This is actually a real thing. It was tried by that remarkable approximation of a viable attorney, Sidney Powell, one of the bevy of questionably adept lawyers pushing the endlessly repeating segment of the nightmare of the Big Lie (rampant voter fraud) back in December of 2020.

Ms Powell blithered unconvincingly about how Chinese Communism and Hugo Chavez, from the grave, had manipulated and falsified the vote count using the Dominion Voting Systems machine in states where it was never used.

(Demonic elvish cobblers may have been part of that lunatic scenario, but I may be conflating another fairy tale with the one Sidney spun.)

After more than sixty federal judges had ruled that the Big Lie was a feckless chimera and once the dropped jaws had re-clenched firmly, determined to hold Sid’s feet to the fire, Ms Powell held a press conference in which she offered her defense.

“No reasonable person could have believed the election fraud claims.”

And there you have it. She was not to be blamed for spinning lies. Her lies were not to be believed by any reasonable person. Anyone who accepted her preposterous nattering was, themselves, to blame. What a tortured way to dodge censure and plead victimhood at the same time! Audacity such as that should be recognized as a most remarkable achievement. Even from a lawyer!

Now, in response to the numerous allegation against him, America’s Defunct Mayor, Fruity Rudy Ghouliani, has latched on to Sidney’s farcical defense.

‘No reasonable person would believe me.’ And just like that, Rudy has attempted to turn the tables on us all. He’s not to blame for telling lies. We’re to blame for even considering his twaddle. Thanks, Rudy, for straightening that out for us.
