This is nothing short of chilling

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The fall of Roe was essentially a fait accompli as soon as Donald Trump put his extremist judges on the extreme court. And now we are seeing the results of this. It’s 9/ 25/2024. This writer feels a bit of a chill in the air. That’s because we are transitioning into fall. It is also because of what’s happening to my sisters, my sister women, all over the country.

Horror. Charged with pregnancy-related crimes. Being deemed as murderers. I think of Salem. I’ve written about Salem before, but never as I am now, my friends. The hysteria that spurred on Salem was a horror show. But what’s happening in red states now is also America’s horror story, its own living, breathing plexiglass that if one looks into, one will see horror.

“Pregnancy as a crime: a preliminary report of the first year after Dobbs.” Yes, this report found — found — found — 210 cases of pregnancy-related criminal charges against WOMEN. Alabama ranked one, Oklahoma two. One of the cases involved a woman who delivered a stillborn baby. The woman went to make funeral arrangements. The funeral home alerted authorities. The woman was charged with homicide.

Stop it! There is A Chill in the air, my friends, as somewhere right now, a woman suffers in silence. Somewhere right now, a woman is trembling, wondering: Should she leave her state? Will she be arrested? Will she be BRANDED, as so many women were in Salem?

Women are easy targets. Explains Mary Beth Ziegler, a legal historian: “The goal was not just to have these individual people go to prison; it was meant to set a precedent about what fetal rights look like. So going for the easiest target made sense.”

Target….. No, that word should never be used in conjunction with women, but here we are. There is a chill in the air, and it’s not Autumn. It’s extreme horror of what is happening in this country. Cry for our beloved country; cry for the women.

I want to see it stop. Kamala Harris this week has called for eliminating the filibuster to restore abortion rights. So if you are reading this, one hand pressed over your mouth in horror, if you are weeping for our women, if you are angry, enraged at his injustice, there is a way to stop it.

Vote. Vote for this beautiful and mighty candidate who has had enough of the cap. Who seeks to RESCUE women, each and everyone, from the dark underbelly of republican big brother politics, that which seeks to chain women’s freedoms, cast them aside into dungeons of history, vote vote vote for Kamala, the one person who can save women from this grim fate.
