This is newsworthy whether the media wants to talk about it or not
It’s easy to talk about just how badly Donald Trump and his campaign are falling apart – if you can even call it a “campaign” when he’s sitting home on Labor Day and drawing mustaches on people instead of making any effort to campaign. Trump in 2024 is a shadow of himself, and this is one of the most embarrassing general election presidential candidacies of all time. What’s truly remarkable is the contrast with the other side.
Whereas Trump and his campaign are blowing it in just about every way possible, Kamala Harris and her campaign are nailing it in just about every way possible. This is the kind of statement that the mainstream political media is afraid to make for fear of looking biased, but it’s an absolutely true statement.
Kamala and her campaign are nailing it in terms of campaigning. She accurately assessed that North Carolina was on the verge of being in play, so she visited there, and helped put it in play. Then she accurately assessed that Georgia was on the verge of being in play, so she and Tim Walz did a rural bus tour there, and now it’s in play. She’s barnstorming the other tried and true swing states herself, while a number of her surrogates are doing a nationwide bus tour that kicked off in Florida in an effort to push that state into being in play. This is how you play the Electoral College map. It’s just plain smart.
Kamala and her campaign are also nailing it in terms of fundraising. In fact they’ve brought in so much money, they just announced that they’re shifting nearly $40 million of it to Democratic candidates running in downticket races. That’s right, she’s trying to win herself a House and Senate majority so she can govern after she wins. You know you’re doing something right when you’re bringing in enough money that you’re able to strategically spread it around like this.
Are there imperfections or flaws in Kamala Harris’ strategy? There surely are. But they’re so small and debatable, one would show bias against her to search for such tiny things to complain about while her opponent is over there making mistakes big enough to drive a Mack truck through.
Is it newsworthy that Kamala Harris and her campaign are firing on all cylinders? Yes it is. Politics is so often the stuff of failure, incompetence, mediocrity. For once we’re seeing the opposite of that. It’s noteworthy. It’s historic. It’s all the more remarkable given that her campaign just started six weeks ago. Let’s just remember that it’s not over. The nature of presidential general elections is such that one side could be running a carcass and still have a small chance of winning. So I need every last one of you to go to go.kamalaharris.com and put in your zip code and see what you can sign up for.
