This is like something out of The Onion

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump is starting to fall behind in the polls and he’s starved for attention, so he decided to do a live interview with the National Association of Black Journalists. To say that it went poorly for him would be the understatement of the year. It’s not just that he came off terribly. It’s that it was so on the nose, it reads like a headline from a satire site like The Onion.

Trump got on stage with three Black female interviewers and an all Black audience, and tried to make the case that Kamala Harris isn’t Black. No really, this is what he did. Trump tried to argue that Kamala Harris is actually Indian not Black, and then he claimed that she only decided to become Black recently. Again, Trump actually said this. To Black interviewers. At a Black conference.

We’re about to see a lot of contrarian hot takes about how this debacle somehow helps Trump. It always happens whenever Trump really blows it. But the cold hard reality here is that this went so poorly for Trump, his handlers had to jump in and end the interview when it was barely half over, before Trump could make it even worse for himself. What we saw play out today will only serve to cost Trump votes. Now let’s run up the score.
