This is just ugly for the Republicans

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

What will it take for people to see that most Republicans are not in office to serve the people? They vote based on who or what they like, and if a Democrat brings it up, forget about it. As far as they are concerned, anything Democrats do is “bad,” while Republicans can do all sorts of things that benefits themselves and their rich friends, and it is all good. We were facing an imminent shutdown of the government, but 35 Republicans had no concern about what that might do to the very people they claim to represent.

According to Reuters, some of the things that will happen during a shutdown include closing museums and national parks, which would abruptly stop work for three out of five workers. A shutdown can impact 62% of employees in the Centers for Disease Control, amid a pandemic. While some employees are allowed to continue to work, it is without pay until a funding agreement is reached. Any employees considered “non-essential” are furloughed. Government shutdowns are obviously a nightmare, especially for people who depend on those paychecks for their survival, but Republicans cannot be bothered by that. They will still get their pay, and most of them do not need it anyway like the rest of us.

According to Newsweek, 35 Republican senators voted against the stopgap measure that would keep the government open until December 3. Know their names for future reference: Hawley (MO), Hoeven (ND), Hyde-Smith and Wicker (MS), Johnson (WI), Lankford and Inhofe (OK), Lee (UT), Marshall and Moran (KS), Paul (KY), Portman (OH), Risch (ID), Scott and Rubio (FL), Scott (SC), Sullivan (AK), Thune (SD), Toomey (PA), Tuberville (AL), Sasse and Fischer (NE), Barrasso and Lummis (WY), Blackburn and Hagerty (TN), Boozman and Cotton (AK), Braun (IN), Cramer (ND), Crapo (ID), Cruz (TX), Daines (MT), and Ernst and Grassley (IA), who recently announced his intent to run for reelection. People in Iowa are crazy if they continue to send him to Washington. None of these 35 “public servants” have your best interests at heart and would rather stab you in the back. Blackburn had the nerve to tweet: “Our government is running out of money because Joe Biden has been busy spending it all.” President Biden has not been in office a year, and what he has spent has been to make life better for average Americans. Where was this outrage when they passed a tax cut for the rich? Throwing away billions that could have gone into the Treasury is worse than spending, yet they have no comment on that issue.

People need to pay close attention to who they are sending to Washington to represent them. Say what you want about President Biden, but every dime he has spent has been for the American people. He does not golf at his own properties and pocket the profit. Every day that he has spent in office has been trying to find a way to make life better for us. That is money well spent no matter how Republicans want to twist the facts.
