This is just ugly for Matt Gaetz
This isn’t a good week to be Matt Gaetz. Actually, I wouldn’t ever want to be Matt Gaetz. But this week, in particular, has been a rough one for the high-hated Congressman. This is because, in a leaked tape, Kevin McCarthy and Steve Scalise discuss how Gaetz was “putting people in jeopardy.”
Wow, the Republicans understood what a train-wreck Gaetz is — who knew! “This is serious stuff,” Steve Scalise says on the tape about Gaetz. “It’s potentially illegal what he’s doing.”
McCarthy, too, had harsh words for Gaetz:
“He doesn’t need to be doing this.”
“We saw what people would do in the Capitol.”
“These members calling out other members, that stuff’s got to stop.”
Gaetz was infuriated. Faster than one could say bonkers, Gaetz took to Twitter:
“Rep McCarthy and Rep. Scalise held views about President Trump and me that they shared on sniveling calls with Liz Cheney, not us.”
“This is the behavior of weak men, not leaders.”
They’re eating their own, and the appetites seem expansive.
Gaetz obviously cannot take even a little criticism. And what these leaked audios show us is McCarthy and Scalise are even worse than we imagined.
They were fully aware of how bad the damage was. They knew. Their heads were not in la la land. They’re just crooked no-conscience people who do not give a damn.
So we must punish them all at the ballot box. As for Gaetz? He will get his when the investigation is complete. But how wonderful it could be indeed to vote each and every one of these pathologically lying and miserable traitors out of office.
Do you know what I’d love to see? Any of you who have Twitter and are willing to pin a tweet with the words “Republicans in disarray.” We have to amplify the message. We have to shout it. We must climb the mountain to visit the golden sun. We can taste victory. But it will take work and message amplification. And there has never been a better time to do it.
