This is just ugly for Jim Jordan

Jim Jordan refused to voluntarily cooperate with the House Select Committee in its investigation of the January 6 insurrection. Of course, we all never expected one of Trump’s biggest enablers to do anything to help with this investigation. If anything, he would do all he could to quash it, which is why Nancy Pelosi vetoed his presence on the committee. We are beginning to find out just how involved Jordan was in things. Associated Press gave a rundown.

AP reported that Jordan was texting with Meadows until almost midnight on January 5, peddling his ideas of how Mike Pence could reject electors from the states President Biden won. Jordan seemed to think that someone died and made Mike Pence king, granting him the power to throw out votes. Jordon probably thought himself a genius, but Meadows responded: “I have pushed for this. Not sure it is going to happen.”

These people who claim to want to “save America” and “put America first” want to take votes made by Americans and throw them out a window. The only “saving” these Republicans want to do is saving everything for themselves. How people continue to vote these people into office defies all logic. As the committee prepares to go live with hearings, we will hear more about the Republicans in Congress who tried their best to deny us of our right to vote.

AP quoted Bennie Thompson: “It appears that a significant number of House members and a few senators had more than just a passing role in what went on.” The three who refused to voluntarily participate in hearings are guilty as hell. In addition to Jordan, Scott Perry (PA) and Kevin McCarthy both refused to participate. Perry denied that he sent text messages to Meadows, even though they were signed with his name. As AP reported, even though they have refused to voluntarily testify, we have learned much about their involvement in the past few weeks, and it is appalling. Their ideas for overturning the election were similarly appalling, including naming fake electors in all seven swing states, declaring martial law, and seizing voting machines. Yet, these are the people who “want to put America first.” What a joke. We have also learned that Meadows was involved in the call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, which has led to the assembly of a grand jury, which will begin its work this month.

Speaking of Georgia, what in the world will come from Marjorie Taylor Greene’s perjured testimony in her case? Her text messages have also come to light, including one in which she told Mark Meadows that Trump should call for “Marshall” law, whoever Marshall is. These are the people running our government, folks. People who cannot even spell a simple word like “martial” and people who wanted to throw out our votes as if they didn’t count and we don’t matter. It is time for some big changes in Washington, and no matter how much Republican try to suppress our vote, we must show them that we do matter. Our voices will never be suppressed.
