This is just so embarrassing for Mehmet Oz
It turns out Mehmet “Dr.” Oz is every bit as bad at campaigning as he was at the whole medical advice thing. The notorious quack is now running for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, except he doesn’t really live in Pennsylvania, and it didn’t even occur to him that filming a campaign ad at his New Jersey mansion was a bad idea.
Oz tweeted a minute long campaign video ad which, to date, has only received a little more than 200 likes. For a high profile candidate in an election that’s getting national attention, that’s a pretty good indicator that your ad is terrible. But it got worse from there.
Oz’s opponent, Democratic candidate John Fetterman, replied to Oz’s tweet with this quip: “Pro tip: don’t film an ad for your PA senate campaign from your mansion in New Jersey.” Fetterman’s retort to Oz ended up getting more than 70,000 likes. Let’s repeat that for emphasis: Oz tweeted a campaign ad that got just a couple hundred likes, and Fetterman’s reply to Oz’s tweet got 70,000 likes. That kind of ratio shouldn’t even be possible.
Of course while John Fetterman is killing it on Twitter, and his poll numbers are looking good as well, it only matters if people go out and vote. If you want to help make sure Fetterman defeats Oz, go to Fetterman’s website and sign up to donate, volunteer, or just get more information about how you can help.
