Not long ago, Donald Trump and congressional Republicans vowed that they would immediately tackle food prices. To the surprise of none of us (since they ran on a similar issue back in 2022), the GOP has done nothing to lower the prices of groceries.

In fact, Donald Trump just reneged on a Biden executive order, which will increase costs of healthcare. Unfortunately, capping the cost of insulin is hardly the only thing that Republicans are looking to do when it comes to making access to healthcare more difficult.

That’s why on Wednesday, Republicans introduced a bill that would make it more difficult for women seeking abortions to get them – a signal that the GOP has definitely not learned from its anti-choice rhetoric over the last two years (particularly since this bill came to the Senate floor on the 52nd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.)

Fortunately, the bill failed to pass, losing 52-47 on the Senate floor, with no votes that could potentially also jeopardize Republicans. Rather than the divided narrative the media is pushing, Democrats called the bill out for the sham that it was and loudly denounced the false narrative the GOP is trying to hide behind about being friends of the working class – something they’ve never been.
