This is just plain ugly for Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Presidential campaigns usually come down to a relative handful of swing states. The map evolves over time as demographics shift, but we all know the familiar states that tend to decide things. To that end, electoral maps end up being crucial to figuring out who’s viable where, and planning strategy accordingly.

That brings us to the first electoral map that NBC News has released this election cycle, and it’s just plain ugly for Donald Trump:

.

Two things stand out here. First, several states that Trump won in 2016 – including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Florida, Michigan, and Wisconsin – are now solidly in Joe Biden’s column. Additionally, several states that Trump won last time – including Georgia, Texas, Ohio, and Iowa – are now toss-ups.

Of course this is just one snapshot in time. Electoral maps can and will change over time. But this current map drives home the reality that Joe Biden is in a phenomenal position, and Donald Trump is in a terrible hole. This means the Resistance has a great opportunity to double down on things like voter registration and turnout, and run up the score, to keep Trump from being able to play any games or claw his way back into the race.
