This is just humiliating for Marjorie Taylor Greene

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

“Jasmine Crockett Knocks the Karen Out of Marjorie Taylor Greene” must be the best headline in recent months (maybe years). More importantly, it tells you how messed up some of these people-especially Marjorie Taylor Greene-in Congress are and how much they do not belong. Reese Waters ran the video on his “Street Politics” YouTube page, and he made the best comment prior to showing MTG getting her ass told off: “One of the oldest adages that we popularize here in this country is ‘Don’t Mess with Texas.’ She has decided to mess with a woman from Texas, a woman who’s known for her savagery on the House floor and a Black woman in public at that. How’s that going to go for you?” It did not go well, as Jamie Raskin yelled out: “That’s beneath even you, Ms. Greene.” Waters has named her “Capitol Hill Karen.” If the moniker fits…

Greene’s unnecessary comment turned out bad for her. As badly as Greene looks on a normal day, she scraped the bottom of the proverbial barrel with her comment. She chose the wrong person to pick on-or persons when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined the fray but it was Jasmine Crockett who let Greene have it with one question: “I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling: If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach-blond, bad-built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?” That is a triple “ouch.” James Comer looked utterly confused and asked: “A What now?” Jamie Raskin looked right at MTG, as he knew exactly to whom Crockett was referring, and in the end, he had to cover his face to keep from laughing. As Reese Waters said: “That was some savage alliteration.” Greene deserved every word.

Democrats obviously did not appreciate Greene assaulting two of their own, but even Republicans, including far-right Republicans, said Greene’s outburst was “embarrassing.” The problem is all of them are embarrassing. This hearing was supposed to convene at 11:00 a.m. Instead, the entire House had to wait on what Jamie Raskin called “a mass spiritual pilgrimage” to Donald Trump’s trial. What was most embarrassing was these people shirking their duties to the American people to go and support a convicted sexual predator who has not even begun to face all the charges piled up against him. Are they going to forego their duties every time he is called to court?

According to the Daily Beast, other Republicans seemed fed up with Greene. Lauren Boebert even voted with Democrats to silence Greene for the remainder of the meeting. Explaining her actions, Boebert told reporters: “It was embarrassing what was going on. I couldn’t bring myself to stand in defense of that….” Mike Johnson also told reporters: “It’s not a good look for Congress.” Nothing this Congress has been doing has been a good look, including the rumor that some of them were drinking. It is obvious where their concern lies, and it is not with their constituents. All of them need to be sent packing in favor of people who want the jobs for the right reasons.
