This is just embarrassing for Elon Musk

Dear Palmer report readers: Trump and his unelected henchmen are actively to destroy our democracy and our way of life. We must fight back as loudly and aggressively as possible. Palmer Report is expanding. We're bulking up our staff and leaving no stone unturned on the editorial front and activism front. I'm asking you to help me build Palmer Report into what it needs to be. The nature of Elon Musk’s relationship with Donald Trump, who he largely helped to elect just for the sake of lining his own wallet, has already become a topic of conversation. Things haven’t been smooth with either of them probably even before the 2024 election happened, and whether or not Musk stays with the administration, particularly as his DOGE agency is falling apart, it’s clear that Donald Trump doesn’t want much to do with him.

Musk did himself no favors with his Nazi salute at the inauguration which has set off a social media firestorm and forced Trump to take a position on white supremacists. To the surprise of no one at Palmer Report, he took exactly the wrong approach.

A number of Republicans used the opportunity to rebuke Musk for the gesture – and the mogul himself didn’t take criticism well – but CNN’s Scott Jennings actually did decide to go there and defend the gesture, hoping that he could normalize it and maybe get people to stop talking about it. Rather, he invited the opposite effect, as a guest panelist on the network dared him to openly make the gesture on live TV.

This is exactly how you push back against bigoted clowns like Jennings, a former Bush administration member who’s largely just there to legitimize anything Republicans do. He clearly wasn’t expecting this response, and likely neither was the network, that’s been desperately pushing a “both sides” cover of legitimacy even when none exists.
