This is how hard-up Donald Trump is

This week General Colin Powell – a Republican who had prominent roles in both Bush administrations – announced that he’s voting for Joe Biden because he’s reasonable and Donald Trump is simply not an option. It served as a reminder that nearly all of the prominent endorsements in the 2020 election have gone to Biden and not to Trump.

If you want to get a sense of just how hard-up Donald Trump is for endorsements at this point, he finally landed one today when George P. Bush endorsed him. That’s not a typo. George P. Bush is a comparatively obscure member of the Bush family, and he’s considered a punchline among those who have heard of him. And yet Donald Trump is desperate, he promptly tweeted “Thank you George, great honor!”

This would be like Joe Biden getting endorsed by some Democrat who’s an obscure joke, and then making a big deal out of it. But Biden doesn’t have to do that, because he’s already been endorsed by heavyweights including Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, Colin Powell, John Lewis, and on and on.
