This is full blown dementia
Donald Trump has spent the past month largely content to just sit there while others like Elon Musk run his presidency. It’s clear that Trump doesn’t care what’s going on, and often doesn’t even know what’s going on. But there are times when Trump has to go through the motions of being “President of the United States” – and what’s what you get to see just how deep into dementia he is.
For instance, Trump met with French President Emmanuel Macron today in front of the cameras. Trump got the basic facts of Europe’s position on Ukraine wrong, prompting Macron to jump in and correct him. Then Trump decided to tell Macron that he’s heading to Fort Knox to see if anyone stole the gold:

This actually happened. Trump was talking to Macron about going hunting for gold as if they were two random guys sitting at a bar making small talk. Trump clearly didn’t understand that he was at a joint press conference with a world leader to discuss a war on the other side of the world. Instead Trump just sat there and blurted out the kinds of nonsensical things that dementia patients tend to get obsessively hung up on.
