This is completely out of control

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Over the past twenty-four hours we’ve seen visual evidence on social media that doctors are wearing diapers as makeshift masks and nurses are wearing garbage bags as makeshift gowns, in a last ditch (and likely futile) effort at protecting themselves from infection while treating coronavirus patients.

It’s not just that these selfless medical professionals deserve better than to get sick. It’s that once they do get sick, who’s going to take care of the coronavirus patients then? And yet, even as some state governments are doing what they can to try to help, the federal government is only doing what it can to try to cover up the severity of the crisis. The United States is being exposed as essentially โ€“ to use an old phrase โ€“ a third world country.

What’s stunning is that all of this death and suffering in the United States is really only attributable to one man: Donald Trump. That’s not an overstatement. It’s a provable statement. Take Trump out of the equation and replace him with literally any previous President. Pick the worst one we’ve ever had, and the circumstances of this coronavirus crisis would still be infinitely better than what they are. George W. Bush neglected the Katrina crisis for precious days, before belatedly trying to get the response right. Trump has been neglecting the coronavirus crisis for months โ€“ and he has no intention of ever trying to get it right.

America is failing. Not by the the year. Not by the day. But by the hour. There’s no point in stating the U.S. death toll in this article, because it will have gone up significantly between the time I’m publishing this article and the time you’re reading it, even if only a brief time passes, because it’s climbing that quickly. It’ll only accelerate.

We’re in hell. The only surefire way out is to oust Donald Trump, which we can’t do until the end of the year. We can and should continue to put as much pressure on him as possible, in the hope that perhaps he’ll finally crack and either walk away, or take things so far that the 25th Amendment really does get used against him. Until he’s gone, we’re all stuck trying to hold America together with duct tape and baling wire. This is completely out of control.
