This is beyond ludicrous
While the media revels in their typical self-righteousness about the pardon of Hunter Biden, there’s a considerable detail that many are overlooking. It’s absolutely ludicrous to think that this action is going to encourage Trump to pardon his lackeys and make a farce of the justice system, because the guy basically campaigned on that when he said he’d be the retribution for his base.
However, there is a certain degree of irony, as the Trump campaign has spent five years (even getting impeached over it) on the president’s son – somehow trying to tie some kind of scandal emanating from Hunter directly to his father, and pretty much getting nowhere. Now that Hunter has received a pardon from an overly harsh sentence he shouldn’t have been given in the first place, all Donald Trump and his base can do is yell about it.
In other words, so much for retribution. Had Trump returned to the White House and merely presided over Hunter’s sentence – he might have actually gotten some bipartisan support for going after his political enemies. Instead, he’s revealed himself to be a powerless clown who can’t do much but throw a tantrum when things don’t go his way.
This doesn’t mean that he won’t still try to go after his other political opponents on inane charges, but President Biden’s pardon has cost Trump both the respect and fear he’d need to rule as a tyrant. It’s a crucial step in the right direction and yet another reminder to not obey this clown in advance.
