This is a total mess for Sean Hannity and Donald Trump
Next. Who will it be? How’s Donald Trump feeling right about now? If I were to guess, this nifty little paragraph might just sum it up. “As they watch me scream at night in a dream, no one understands.” – Jaques Brel
What’s this about? The January 6 committee, of course. Who’s next? That seems to change every day. But today’s possibly next person is — wait for it — Sean Hannity. Sigh. Isn’t 2022 starting off great? Can one even begin to imagine what and how assolini is feeling right about now?
Per Axios, the January sixth committee is calling on the non-news pundit to cooperate voluntarily with their investigation. Apparently, Jay Sekulow, Hannity’s attorney, is not reacting to this news at all well. When asked about it by Axios, he replied:
“If true, any such request would raise serious constitutional issues including First Amendment concerns regarding freedom of the press.”
Really Jay? The press? Fox News is registered as “entertainment.” Sean Hannity has often boasted on camera of his deep and fond friendship with the orange bat. If Hannity is so very willing to speak about Trump on the airwaves, why would he not help out voluntarily with the January 6 committee?
This is a rhetorical question. We all know why not. This has not only started to get good; it is now a balloon of anticipation. Wouldn’t it be something to see Hannity appearing before the committee on television? Who else might be asked for their voluntary cooperation? Tucker Carlson? Laura Ingraham? Who is next?
At the time of this writing, Axios says it hasn’t been “able to establish the nature of the cooperation the committee plans to ask of Hannity.” We will find out in good time. I imagine many other Fox pundits are possibly shaking in their designer shoes right now as they frantically pray they are not next.
