This is a real problem for Donald Trump
One knew it would not be long until Trump inserted himself into the conversation. After all, the attention has been on another Republican — Glen Youngkin. Trump cannot have that! So, in true assolini form, the orange nutter is demanding credit for a job well done in Virginia. The problem with this is Youngkin did not win because of assolini. He won despite him.
And it shows a continuing dilemma for Republicans. The mid-terms are edging closer. What will the GOP do about the elephant in the room? How will they handle “he who must not be named?”
It’s a problem. It is a problem because he, who must not be named, is also batshit crazy and a narcissist. He will DEMAND recognition from mid-term candidates. So the fact is that many, if not most of the upcoming Mid-term GOP candidates, will have some tough decisions to make, especially in moderate states like Ohio.
Run with Assolini or run without him? Either way, it is a risk. If they are too Maga, they risk alienating voters as Larry Elder did.
But to distance, themselves ultimately would be problematic too. They risk losing their primaries to a more “Trumpian” candidate. And even if they win, they will have to please BOTH factions of voters — the Maga crowd and the moderates.
No easy task. Yes, Youngkin did it. But Trump is miffed he is not getting the attention he thinks he deserves, and he is showing it.
This is going to be very entertaining. Yes, we have our own issues. But the GOP is awash in Trump bullshit, and they have many of their own decisions to make. It will be fun watching them try to do it.
