This is a complete debacle for Greg Abbott

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Governor Greg Abbott has been having a difficult time of it lately. Beto O’Rourke is challenging him. He’s unsure if he can keep the lights on in his own state. He’s an idiot. You know — he’s going through the usual things a GOP sycophant tends to go through.

Abbott’s made quite an enemies list over the years. Many players in the political football game don’t like the guy at all. Neither does this writer. One thing Abbott has done that is infuriating many is sent National Guard to the border to do exactly nothing there.

Well, no — not exactly true. I suppose the Guard can stand around and look cool for a Greg Abbott photo op. This appears to be Abbott’s priority. There are thousands of Guards there. And many of THEM don’t seem to like Abbott either.

And some Guardsmen are pissed. And they’re speaking out. “Political theater.” is what they’re calling it. These National Guard say their living conditions are poor. Some also say they are in dire need of specific equipment.

An example is toolboxes. According to one of them. all they have are 5 or 6 “rusty” toolboxes, with much missing in said boxes. Many also need night googles. Paychecks have not been consistent either, some say.

Operation Lonestar is what the non-Governor is calling this non-mission. Bullshit is what some of the Guard is calling it: “We’re political pawns in an election year.” It’s a crying shame that our Guard is being manipulated in such an awful way. Texas is, in many ways, an extraordinary state. Like a lofty pyramid, she is known to be mighty.

But now, there is a sad and haunting lament coming from Texas. And that is because of Abbott — and what’s he has done to the majestic state. So please — if you live in Texas — reach out and let your fellow Texans know what’s going on.

Call your representatives and tell them we want our Guards home. After all, they’re made for greater stuff than this. They’re CERTAINLY made for much better stuff than being used as mere props in a cunning failure of a Governor’s ruthless political campaign.
