So much is happening in politics that it’s hard to focus, but let’s try. First, the Mayorkas impeachment is dead. Democrats refused to cower to Republican threats to use this against them. After a few hours, the two articles of impeachment against Mayorkas were tossed. Republicans are trying hard to find something to use against President Biden, but this won’t be it. Republicans groaned about allowing the American people to hear the evidence, and Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO), said on the Senate floor that the handling of the impeachment “set our Constitution ablaze.” If this were a movie, it would certainly be a comedy. Republicans obviously care nothing about the Constitution, as Donald Trump continued his violations until he became mired in criminal charges. They also know nothing about allowing the American people to “hear the evidence,” as they consistently buried evidence against Donald Trump. This turned out to be a big nothing burger, just like all the House Republican’s “investigations.” All this nonsense about a problem that could have been effectively handled by the bipartisan border bill that these same House Republicans quashed. Next.

Since Republicans have also tried to hit President Biden on inflation, MSNBC’s Maddow Blog told us that inflation would be worse under Donald Trump. When asked about inflation while in office, Trump had no answer. He still has no answer, and to quote Maddow Blog: “Trump does, however, have plenty of ideas about how to make inflation worse.” That’s not surprising. They and Politico looked at Trump’s plans to gauge how they will impact inflation. Take, for example, his plan to begin mass deportations. According to those who understand inflation and the economy, Trump’s plan would push prices higher, as would his plan for sweeping ambitious tariffs and his promise of additional tax cuts for the wealthy. Washington Post’s writer Catherine Rampell has released a column that outlines Trump’s plan to “devalue” the dollar. She starts off with: “Remind me again why Americans think Donald Trump would be so much better on inflation and the economy?” All you need to do is think about who Trump wants to serve in office (himself), and that tells you everything you need to know. None of his plans will positively impact the lives of the American people, but they will certainly help to line his pockets.

This is one of the many reasons that even Republican voters don’t want Trump back in office. According to the latest Republican polls, Joe Biden has overtaken Trump. Perhaps people are beginning to wake up to the reality that Republicans aren’t good for America. They have wasted untold time and resources on an impeachment that was doomed from the beginning. Michael Gerhardt, NC professor of law, agreed with the Democratic Senate. He called the impeachment “transparently partisan” and said: “This effort to impeach Secretary Mayorkas is really designed to help Donald Trump and hurt Joe Biden’s reelection.” Stated simply, he’s right. Informed voters will see right through this. Hopefully, the informed voters outnumber the uninformed.
