Donald Trump is fiddling while his presidency burns

Dear Palmer Report readers,

We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $3360 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

Does Donald Trump really think he’s fooling anyone? The stock market is collapsing, the world is in danger of dissolving into full scale plague, and all the “President” of the United States can worry about is whether his criminal friend might squeal on him. Trump is obsessed with the ongoing Roger Stone criminal proceedings, and he seems to be under the impression that anyone else gives a hoot:

.

To be clear, Donald Trump just committed a felony with this tweet. But by now we all know that the criminal charges against Trump will have to wait until after he’s gone from office. For now, Trump is hoping beyond hope that Roger Stone can drag out his appeal options and not have to start his prison sentence until after November, because Trump clearly doesn’t want to have to pardon the guy before the election, considering all the political and legal fallout that would come with pardoning a co-conspirator.

Trump is also clearly worried that he’ll end up having to pardon Roger Stone before the election, in order to keep Stone from revealing their forty years of shared personal history. And so Trump is presumably using tweets like this to try to convince enough Americans that he’ll be justified in pardoning Stone if he ends up needing to do it. But he’s not fooling anyone. No one cares all that much about his petty antics right now, considering the economy is on the verge of collapse and people are dropping dead in alarming numbers.
