This battle has just begun

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The headline was: “A special election in Ohio shows voters still care about abortion.” To that, I say duh! What happened Tuesday was extraordinary. And it was one big “Up yours” to Republicans.

As Palmer Report has laid out, republicans tried their hardest to cheat their voters by holding a special election in Ohio on the subject of abortion.

A November election in Ohio has an amendment that would enshrine abortion into the Ohio constitution. Of course, republicans, being the women-hating pri##s that they are, couldn’t have that. So they held this special election which, if Republicans got what they wanted, would have made it much harder for the abortion issue to pass in November.

They lost. Republicans lost. Voters rejected amendment one in a vote of 57 percent to 43 percent. That’s called a wipeout. Just like Kansas. Just like Wisconsin. The people of Ohio have spoken! Way to go, Ohio.

I’m sure this is not a happy day for Republicans. They thought nobody would come out because who comes out to vote during the month of August? Women — that’s who! Beautiful, brave, fiery magnificent, WOMEN! They turned out alright, swarming to the voting booths like bees to honey. Only there was no honey for Republicans in the Ohio vote.

And men as well! Ohio showed their contempt for the GOP with their voices and their votes. I said it once. It is worth saying again. WAY TO GO, OHIO! Listen, friends, this issue — this one powerful issue — needs to be kept in the news. And it can be used to keep Senator Sherrod Brown in office.

Because Ohio’s not as red as one might believe, and I can’t stress this enough — we NEED to keep Brown’s seat. If everyone reading this donated — even a dollar or two — it would help enormously.

Ohio has shown us what they’re worried about — rights. Womens’ rights. So let’s take them at their word. Let’s explain to them what is on the line. And how a vote against Brown is a vote for Republicans to pull more shenanigans like this. Democracy is on the line, and we need Brown to keep democracy in Ohio.

In the meantime, I wonder if Republicans will learn from this. I can already answer this question. They will not. They will lie, cheat, try to steal democracy, do ANYTHING — to try to keep a good woman down. But they are failing at that miserably.
