What is Mike Bloomberg even doing?

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s not difficult to figure out why Mike Bloomberg and Bernie Sanders dislike each other so much. Bloomberg claims to be a Democrat, but much of his record suggests otherwise. Sanders claims to be a socialist and a saint, but he’s a millionaire who leads an army of online trolls he won’t admit exist. They also each see each other as the biggest roadblock to their path to the nomination. Whether that’s true or not, they’re now turning it into a self fulfilling prophecy.

At a time when Elizabeth Warren has seized the momentum and Joe Biden is suddenly back in the game, Bloomberg and Sanders are still focusing on each other instead. Bernie is busy tweeting stuff like this: “Michael Bloomberg has no problem spending $7 MILLION a day so he can buy the presidency.” It’s a fair accusation, but it’s not helping Bernie any to focus on this. Bloomberg is going after Bernie’s record on guns, posting this thread about Bernie and the NRA:

Bernie and Bloomberg can make all the valid points they want about each other’s unsuitability, but all they’re doing is clearing a path for the surging candidates to take the lead. In that sense, more power to them. These two guys deserve each other. Either of them would be far, far better than Donald Trump. But neither of them should be the nominee if we can help it.
