These House Republicans weren’t built for this

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This crop of House Republicans was built to function as a minority: all yelling and screaming nonsense about the other side, no governing or leadership of its own. One full day in the majority and they’re already falling to pieces.

– You may have missed it yesterday, but even as the Republican-majority House was collapsing into a heap, the Democratic-majority Senate quietly swore in its new members. Notable: John Fetterman officially took office, while Raphael Warnock officially began what will he his first full term after having originally been elected in a special election in 2020.

– It’s worth keeping in mind that if the media hadn’t used obviously phony partisan polls as an excuse to yell “red wave” which suppressed the vote, the Democrats would still control the House. Everything that’s happening today is because the media so often spreads lies while chasing ratings.

– Tweet of the day, from Jen Psaki: “just a reminder that just two months ago (which was still before the November election) the mass predictions were a big red wave, McCarthy sailing into speakership, Democrats having lengthy retreats about how they lost a historic number of seats.”
