There’s a Trump tweet for everything

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When the latest jobs report revealed the extent of the economic damage that Donald Trump has done with his negligent mishandling of the coronavirus crisis, I decided I was going to be clever about it. I wanted to take the old “no jobs, no cash, no hope” and throw it at Trump’s feet.

But I didn’t know who should be credited as the joke’s original author, so I went digging to try to find out who wrote it. When I googled for “no jobs, no cash, no hope” I landed on this search result of all things:

.

That’s right, Donald Trump tried to throw that same joke at President Obama back in 2013, and now it’s Trump who’s guilty of having truly tanked the economy. Trump spent the Obama era playing armchair president, insisting in tweet after tweet that he could have been doing a better job. Now Trump is doing a far worse job – and it means there’s an old Trump tweet for every occasion.
