There goes that…
This morning I wrote about my mixed feelings and low expectations for Donald Trump’s criminal trial sentencing hearing. Sure enough, Judge Juan Merchan ended up declining to give Trump any sort of punishment at all. Merchan did, however, confirm that the felony conviction still stands.
If nothing else, Donald Trump is forever a convicted felon. Today’s sentencing hearing, and the higher courts’ unwillingness to intervene, means that Trump is indeed officially a criminal in the eyes of the United States government.
That’s not much. I’m as pissed as you are. It will never be okay that this judge decided to postpone Trump’s criminal trial sentencing hearing until after the election. It will never be okay that the entire Judicial Branch, from top to bottom, utterly failed us when it came to the biggest criminal in U.S. history. I’ll carry that anger forward with me as I continue to fight Trump. But at least Donald Trump is still a convicted felon – and now he always will be.
