There are no words for what a phenomenally bad day House and Senate Republicans just had
Donald Trump recently attended a UFC event, which basically consists of two people beating the crap out of each other. So maybe House and Senate Republicans understood the assignment when they decided to try to emulate Trump this week. How else to explain the fact that they’re now trying to turn Congress into a street brawl?
We’ve got Kevin McCarthy allegedly physically assaulting one of his fellow House Republicans, even as Senate Republican Markwayne Mullin pretty much challenged a congressional witness to a duel:

The thing is, this is only going to get worse over the next year. New Speaker of the House Mike Johnson clearly can’t keep his own caucus members from assaulting each other, or dishing out smurf-themed insults. And there’s no remaining Senate Republican leadership either, now that Mitch McConnell has mentally checked out. Buckle up, because Republicans are imploding.
