“The worst briefing I’ve had”

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Is there anything the Trump regime can’t screw up? After Donald Trump gave a speech today about Iran that raised more questions about his physical and mental health than anything else, his regime tried to clean things up in private by briefing Senators. The trouble: it only made things even worse.

Republican Senator Mike Lee, a Trump ally, emerged from the Iran briefing this afternoon and was less than impressed. He called it “the worst briefing I’ve had on a military issue” during his entire time in the Senate, according to CNN’s Manu Raju. In other words, this briefing was such a joke, even Trump’s GOP pals aren’t willing to stick their necks out by pretending it was worth a damn.

This means the Trump regime still has no idea how to explain or justify Donald Trump’s assassination of Iran’s Soleimani. Trump appears to have given the order impulsively, without any thought about the outcome or consequences. He and his allies have since tried to claim in public that there was an unspecified “imminent” threat against the United States, and that taking out Soleimani made that threat go away. But it’s more clear than ever that this was a lie. Just ask Mike Lee.
