The war between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Republican candidate JD Vance is locked in a tough primary battle with his fellow Republican candidate Josh Mandel. Yesterday Donald Trump tried to give Vance a boost by holding a rally and telling people to vote for “JD Mandel” – which is likely to drive more votes to Mandel than to Vance. Trump actually needed help from a staffer to get as far as “JD Mandel.” Prior to that he appeared to be on his way to steering voters toward “JP Mandel” or perhaps “JP Morgan.”

The point is there’s nothing left of Trump’s brain. He’s not just misspeaking; he has no idea what he’s even talking about, or who he’s even talking about. He knows nothing about these candidates, and probably isn’t even the one who made the endorsement decision. The notion of Trump somehow being able to run for President in 2024 is laughable, and that’s even before getting to the fact that he’s under DOJ criminal investigation.

Twitter user Jack Hopkins made an interesting point: “Stop worrying about Trump vs DeSantis. If you’re going to worry (and I NEVER suggest worrying) don’t. Trump isn’t going to be the GOP nominee. He just isn’t. DeSantis might very well be, but, it’s far from certain. However, if he is, trump will frag the GOP party.”

This is very much on point. Ron DeSantis is currently waging war against Disney World, because he thinks that’s somehow how the best way to get reelected in Florida of all places. Trump isn’t going to be a part of the 2024 cycle. And even if DeSantis is, he’ll still be the same idiot with zero political savvy that he is now. If anything, the real threat in 2024 is whatever terrible Republican candidates manage to sneak unvetted under the radar while the media is overhyping a Trump vs DeSantis showdown that probably won’t even happen.
