The walls come crumbling down

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Is it possible that Donald Trump’s precariously built house of cards is finally tumbling? The jury in the New York case found the Trump Organization guilty of tax fraud. Associated Press reported that two entities were found guilty on 17 counts, which included charges of conspiracy and falsifying business records. While Donald Trump was not named in the criminal indictment, this still reflects badly on him, and his company is looking at a fine of up to $1.6 million. If we know nothing else, we know how Trump hates being hit in the pockets. Of course, if you listen to Trump, it’s all a “witch hunt” and New York hates Trump. New York is not alone. This is merely one of several investigations involving Trump, even though this one targeted the company. Trump Organization is Trump, and the other investigations are criminal in nature.

Philip Bump, a writer for Washington Post, believes that, perhaps, Trump has gone too far this time. He pointed to Trump’s continued (false) cries of 2020 election fraud and his suggestion of abandoning the Constitution. Trump has likely never even read the Constitution, so it is of no consequence to him. What is important to Trump is his continued lies and scams. Though Republicans have for the most part remained silent on Trump’s crimes, they were up in arms about his suggestion that we abolish the Constitution. Bump goes through a laundry list of issues that should eventually take Trump down.

We have dealt with Trump having dinner with white supremacist/antisemite Nick Fuentes and antisemite Kanye Walker. The DOJ’s investigation into Trump’s unauthorized removal of classified documents is only just beginning thanks to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, which overturned Aileen Cannon’s order appointing a special master. The DOJ is also investigating whether Trump criminally tried to stop President Joe Biden from assuming office with his false claims of election fraud and summoning thugs to Washington who eventually broke into and vandalized the Capitol.

The real fallout may well be the GOP, which not only sat silent while Trump did his dirty deeds, but as Washington Post reported, actually sided with Trump against the FBI seizure of materials that did not belong to Trump. Sure, they took the House, but that’s not going to last. Families of officers slain in the January 6, 2021 insurrection openly displayed their disdain for the GOP by refusing to shake Mitch McConnell’s and Kevin McCarthy’s hands after they had shaken hands with Senate Leader Chuck Schumer. No message could be clearer. Brian Sicknick’s brother Ken told CBS News that he refused to shake their hands because: “They won’t admit to wrongdoing, not necessarily them themselves, but of Trump, of the rioters.” He called Louie Gohmert’s presentation of the American flag that was flown over the Capitol “disgusting.” Don’t think they are the only ones who are tired of Trump and the GOP. That’s why they only barely book control of the House, and it won’t last. People are fed up with the two-faced GOP, and they have certainly had enough of Donald Trump.
