The unraveling of Lindsey Graham

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The hypocrisy of the Republican party is so very blatant. And never has the purely sinister nature of it been on more vivid display than this week. For years, the GOP said it was all about states’ rights when it comes to abortion.

Now we didn’t believe them. But some people did. Some independent voters especially believed them. In the decades-long fight over Roe, all one had to do was to turn on Fox non-news on any given night or day, and one could often see some Republican on the screen, face a mask of indignation, talking about the independence of states and how it was so important to leave choice up to them.

The battle for states’ rights was always a fraud. It is perhaps the greatest of the Republican frauds because they got away with telling it for so long. Then the lie was exposed and by Lindsey Graham of all people. Graham did not think it would go this way. He likely thought he could distract.

Maybe he has engaged in his fruitless search for relevance again, a quest that the Slimy Senator seemingly cannot end. It did not work out, of course. Graham made his appeal for a nationwide abortion ban, and people turned away in disgust.

Now he is relevant, only perhaps not for what he’d like. Graham is now described by some as the sleaziest, most slithery politician of our generation. Even most in his own party reportedly were infuriated at him for bringing this up.

Now Republicans were not mad because they didn’t WANT this ban. But it’s weeks before the midterms. And as you know, some Republicans are starting to see the wrath of women. They realize they miscalculated.

That won’t stop them from trying to implement this type of ban should they win. But they wanted to continue lying about states’ rights, and Graham spoiled that. How Graham is unraveling! Graham has come undone, and it feels delicious.

Now we watch in contempt as he tries to slither his way out of the snake-pit of his own lies. Women will never be caged or made to walk alone, souls prisoners of men like Graham. Gilead and handmaids will never happen in OUR country. But Graham has let the cat out of the bag. It’s out, and everyone can now see who and what the Republican party is.
