The Trumptanic sinks

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

With the Electoral College confirming for the umpteenth time that Joe Biden will be President of the United States in less than six weeks, we are starting to see some GOP stalwarts and hardcore Cult 45 members abandoning this toxic sinking ship, the Trumptanic.

On Monday, Ed Whalen, a very conservative lawyer who was a strong advocate for Brett Kavanaugh and not a fan of Democrats, has tweeted that things are over:

“Lots of people are in denial about either of two things: 1. Trump lost. 2. The election was very close (not in the national popular vote, but in the pivotal states). The Election Came Down to 42,918 Votes in Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia.”

In many ways, that tweet is not accurate, as Biden would have been at 269 electoral college votes without those three states, so only needed one of those states. And Trump won by fewer votes than that in the key states in 2016. Biden in other contested states, such as Pennsylvania and Michigan, beat Trump by very wide margins. But nevertheless, Whalen has made it clear Trump lost.

A second sign it is now over for real is that Senate Majority Leader (for the next few weeks) Mitch McConnell has recognized Joe Biden as President-Elect. On Tuesday, the Con stated on the Senate floor: “The electoral college has spoken. Today I want to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden.”

The rats are abandoning the Trumptanic, and the end of his criminal empire is afoot.
