The “Trump 2024” debacle just reached a whole new level of absurdity

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Now that Trump’s endorsements have flopped and it’s clear he’s finished, he’s trying to keep the fictional “Trump 2024” narrative alive by leaking the names of supposed running mates. This is as predictable as it is transparent.

It’s been obvious for awhile that Trump’s 2024 “campaign” isn’t actually a campaign, and is instead merely an attempt at making his supporters believe he might run, so they’ll keep donating money to him. And since the money isn’t regulated like actual campaign donations (because he’s not actually running), he can just pocket it.

The media has a responsibility to label his fake 2024 “campaign” as a short term cash grab and nothing more – something it’s largely been unwilling to do thus far, because the “Trump 2024” narrative is just too good for ratings. But it’s a good sign that the media largely hasn’t been willing to bite on this nonsense about Trump’s supposed running mates. The real story about Trump right now is that he’s so washed up, his endorsed candidates are losing their primary races – some of them in major blowouts.
