The toxic three
The first of the great Triumvirates were Gaius Julius Caesar, Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, and Marcus Licinius Crassus. These men formed the mighty Triumvirate in 60 BCE. This joining together of three would change the course of history for Roman politics.
That was a long time ago. But there have been other Triumvirates throughout history and time. And I want to talk about a Triumvirate right now. It’s the Triumvirate of insurrectionists.
It consists of three names you likely know well. These names are Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, and Peter Navarro. Two of these three are indicted for their grievous sins. One likely will be. And all three are in deep trouble.
Let’s begin with Bannon. Bannon’s trial is nearing. And the closer it gets, the more unhinged, Triumvirate member number one appears to get. In a move that could be viewed as both amusing and tragic. Bannon is asking the Judge to do him a favor, though.
Bannon wants the Federal Judge to bar the mention of the January 6 insurrection from his trial. How exactly would that work? Given Bannon is on trial for not showing up to answer questions about the terrorist attack, how in fact, can those words be kept from people? Bannon’s side argues that invoking those words would be “prejudicial.”
I doubt this bizarre request will work, but it shows Bannon, for all his tough talk, is probably terrified — not that he’d ever admit it.
Next up is Peter Rabbit — otherwise known as Peter Navarro. As Palmer Report laid out, Navarro tried to delay his upcoming trial citing a book tour. It didn’t work. Peter is pissed it didn’t work and has not stopped complaining about the fact it didn’t work.
Mr. Navarro has a rather high opinion of himself; it would seem. After all, it’s not just anybody who would try to sell a Judge on delaying a trial for a book tour that has not yet happened.
And now we come to member number three – Donald Trump. In his latest outburst of pure stupidity Trump, is now taking on Martin Luther King Jr. In his comments in Tennessee, Trump brought up King’s “I have a dream” speech, saying that he (Trump) had bigger crowds than King. Three members of an incompetent Triumvirate. Three little pigs. Three toxic traitors, doomed to fail — over and over again.
