The sun is going down on Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As Donald Trump’s behavior in public has become more mentally incompetent, the question has been how many of his public appearances would end up being canceled. First he canceled on a scheduled second debate, making clear that he’s not up to facing Kamala Harris again. Then he canceled with 60 Minutes and CNBC, giving away that he’s not even up to that kind of interview. But how far would the cancelations go? In other words, how far gone is he?

Now we’re starting to get our answer. Trump has canceled a scheduled public event with his friends at the NRA, meaning he’s so far gone he can’t even do a public appearance with his biggest apologists on stage to prop him up. This is being blamed on a scheduling change, but it comes even as Trump is also canceling an NBC interview in Pennsylvania. At this point he’s canceling the majority of his campaign appearances.

It’s easy enough to figure out why. His dementia has been getting worse for awhile, as exhibited by his decline in public. But over the past week or two he’s begun taking a sharp turn for the worse. He doesn’t know where he’s at. He doesn’t know why he’s there. He thinks he’s on stage to listen to music. Even when he’s sometimes coherent enough to try to answer questions, he thinks he’s supposed to respond to skeptical questions from undecided voters by arguing with them. Even when he remembers what city he’s speaking in, he thinks he’s supposed to insult that city.

The sun is going down on Donald Trump. Rapidly. Think about how badly he’s gone downhill in the past seven days. Now remind yourself that there are nineteen more days left in this election. How bad will Trump’s condition be by election day? There’s no way to predict, other than it’ll obviously be even worse than it is now.

We have to be careful not to be transfixed by this. Trump is going to keep unraveling, and it is going to keep giving us an incremental advantage. But while Trump is falling apart, we have to keep focused on getting more votes for Kamala Harris.
