The squeeze is officially on Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema
The words of a United States President can carry a lot of weight. It was true when the former guy kept saying stupid, deranged, hateful, corrupt, and dangerous things. It’s just as true now that a good man like Joe Biden is President. So when he took a swing at holdout Democratic Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema on live national television this past week, Palmer Report predicted that it would set off a chain reaction of mounting pressure on them.
Sure enough, former Arizona Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods – a former Republican, no less – is now demanding that Sinema and Manchin either agree to kill the filibuster or resign. This alone won’t prompt Sinema and Manchin to back down. But it’s part of the proverbial “death by a thousand cuts” process of forcing people to cave, through a steady stream of increased collective pressure.
Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema won’t cave on the filibuster this week, and they won’t cave next week either. Right now they’re responding to the mounting pressure by ramping up their defiance in public, in the hope that they can somehow talk their way out of the situation. But that won’t work, and they’ll end up realizing as much.
President Biden knew what he was doing when he took a clear swipe at two members of his own party this week. He was giving the greenlight to members of his own party, public figures, and political officials to go ahead and begin eating Manchin and Sinema alive until they cave. We expect Biden to win this battles against these two lightweight Senators. And we’ll continue applying pressure on them until it happens.
