The sickness is multiplying

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Here is the latest insanity from the GOP. Rape Panels. I kid you not. Republican congressional candidate Bo Hines proposes a special “community review process.” For what, you might ask?

It’s a reasonable question. Unfortunately, there are no reasonable answers.

Only this one. This “community panel” will have as their duties and responsibilities the decision on whether a woman who has been raped should REALLY be allowed an abortion.

And these men (I say men because, let’s face it, in the minds of the GOP, men are all that matter) will be the judges. So in their words, let’s say a woman gets gang raped. Say she is a victim of incest.

She would then need to appear before this community of republican men and make her case as to why she deserves an abortion. The sickness is multiplying. These men would sit on “rape panels,” and each case would be decided on its own individual merits.

Hines is running for North Carolina’s 13th congressional district. We cannot let him win. And local news outlet WRAL reported it like this:

“He wants victims of rape and incest to be allowed to get an abortion on a case-by-case basis through a community level review process outside of the jurisdiction of the federal government.”

Sherrilyn Ifill said this about the idea: “Something from a nightmare.”

So women voters everywhere, I ask you this: Is THIS what you want? To be treated like a half-human? To have less value than a piece of furniture? To have to tell your most intimate secrets to a panel of smug men you have never met before?

Would you like that for your sisters? Your daughters? No? Then VOTE! Vote North Carolina women. Vote Democratic, and you won’t have to worry about this bizarre and misshapen idea, as disgusting as any idea I’ve ever heard.
