The sheer number of people on Jack Smith’s trial witness list against Donald Trump is stunning

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump now knows who’s on the DOJ’s list of trial witnesses in his Espionage Act scandal, but he’s barred under court order from revealing any of the names. We don’t know who’s on the list. But thanks to a new publicly available court filing from Jack Smith, we now know that there are an astounding number of people on it.

It turns out Trump has been given a list of eighty-four witnesses for trial. Keep in mind that not all of these people will necessarily end up testifying. Various legal experts are saying that the final number will likely end up being smaller. For instance, as the case proceeds, Jack Smith may ultimately decide that he doesn’t even need all of these witnesses to testify. And some of the names may be misdirection, to keep Trump and his lawyers from being able to guess the DOJ’s precise trial strategy.

But still, this means that the DOJ has lined up eighty-four witnesses who have already given incriminating testimony against Donald Trump, and who could be called to testify at trial. And this is strictly in the Espionage Act case. If and when Jack Smith separately indicts Trump for January 6th, election fraud, wire fraud, and/or other crimes, those trials will each have their own extensive witness lists.
