The sharks are circling already

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It isn’t close to 2024 yet, but the sharks are already circling. In a way, this should not be surprising. Politicians, by their very nature, crave power. And in the GOP, it would appear power is all they can think about.

So it should come as no surprise that several Republicans already have their eye cast on 2024 — and the Presidential election. And many of these Republicans are hoping that the fates might deem them the likely candidate.

In reality, I suspect fate might just be having a little chuckle right now. The fact is most of the dunderheads we see making fools of themselves daily — do not have a snowball’s chance in hell of ever winning the nomination. And one of these hopefuls is Chris Christie.

Christie is going to run for President. Do I even need to say that? At this point, the probability that he, at some point, launches a campaign is high. And Christie WANTS it. He appears to be feverishly working on his image, trying with everything he’s got to paint the portrait of a courageous and unafraid warrior.

Christie has now come out in support of Mike Pence. Appearing on ABC’s “This week,” Christie frantically tried to sound like a contender. “Let’s face it. Let’s call it what it is. January 6 was a riot that was incited by Donald Trump in an attempt to intimidate Mike Pence,” Christie exclaimed profoundly.

Christie also spoke of Pence. “I’m glad he’s finally put words to it. I don’t know why but it took him so long, but I’m glad that he did.” Do you see what Christie is doing there? Did you notice the subtle dig at Pence? “I don’t know what took him so long.” Christie is so easy to read it’s frankly hilarious.

Christie wants the spotlight on him. He appears to want people to think of him as THE MAN! He wants people to see him as some sort of rebel, a tough dude who took on Trump when nobody else would.

Only this portrait he’s trying to build of himself is a false one, and everybody knows it. Chris Christie is a rebel without a cause. Everybody saw his cozying up to Trump. Everybody saw him promoting his book, which few desired to read.

And everybody saw his fear. This was a palpable terror of saying anything against Fox non-news.Christie will not be the 2024 nominee. It’s just astonishing at this point that he doesn’t appear to realize it.
