The “seven hour gap” in the Trump White House January 6th phone logs is the best news yet
The newly reported seven hour gap in the White House January 6th phone logs is GREAT news. It gives us a three word slogan (“seven hour gap”) that’ll make the average American conclude Trump was criminally conspiring on 1/6 and covering it up. And subpoenaed cellphone logs will fill in the gap.
From a political and optics standpoint, this is the single best development yet in the January 6th probe. The mainstream media finally has its buzz phrase about this scandal (“seven hour gap”) and it’ll be repeated ad nauseum until the public just assumes Trump is guilty.
If the committee doesn’t already have Trump’s personal cellphone logs, it has already obtained the logs of everyone he called on his cellphone during those seven hours. So no, he hasn’t “gotten away” with anything here. Quite the opposite.
Much or all of that seven hour timespan will still get pieced together for the public. And because it’ll all be laid out within the context of Trump’s seven hour gap, his cellphone calls during that gap will be seen as even more suspicious.
This is bad news for Trump and everyone he called (or who called him) during that seven hour gap. The court of public opinion will view them all as guilty of plotting the Capitol attack, and they’ll all be under pressure to explain their supposed innocence.
Trump would probably have been better off just making these phone calls officially, and letting the White House logs speak for themselves. Instead he’s handed the media a ratings friendly “seven hour gap” buzz phrase that even we’ll get sick of hearing. Wait, no we won’t.
