The Republican masks have slipped

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The masks politicians often wear sometimes do not get ripped away. It is possible some politicians can sail through life, pretending to be someone else, and they never get revealed. In the case of Republicans in 2022, however, this is not happening.

In fact, now we can see quite clearly who they are. And never has that been made more clear by the Herschel Walker implosion. Herschel Walker’s campaign is in serious jeopardy right now. And Republicans know it. Who do you suppose they’re blaming?

If you guessed Herschel Walker’s son, you are correct. Many Republicans are enraged. And as their rage grows, the carefully sculpted, painted-on masks that they wear 24 hours a day are evaporating.

The masks have fallen. No more masks! Only a party of angry, pitiful, misogynistic little men (and a few women) quaking with fury that Walker’s son dared to tell the truth. In Republican circles, the truth is usually forbidden from entering.

If you want to see Republican rage, it is easy to find. They are FUMING. No more masks, it would seem. Republicans have forgotten that they’re supposed to at least PRETEND to care about people.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee issued a statement calling the accusations “nonsense.” Reportedly one GOP operative called Walker’s son “a deeply disturbed kid.” And Walker himself doesn’t seem to know WHAT to do. He is agitated, and he claims on Twitter to love his son.

Then I say drop out of the race, Walker. Look — I think we will win Georgia no matter who our opponent is. But this has gone too far. Walker really needs to grow a pair, tell his minions to stand down, and take some time away from the spotlight. That is what he’d do if he had any moral decency.

But alas! Walker, too is a Republican. He wears the same mask they all do. These masks have been in place for years. It would take a lot for even one Republican to shed his. Will Walker listen to reason? Don’t hold your breath.
