The Republican cartoon graveyard
Not content to let bygones be bygones where Disney is concerned, a band of GOP crazies have decided to take on Disney in a unique way — through our televisions. These Republicans are demanding a new TV rating system.
This new and improved system would target children’s cartoons and other children’s programs that had any LGBTQ content in them. Among the Senators involved in this are: Utah’s Mike Lee (of course). Montana’s Steve Daniels. Kansas’ Roger Marshall North Dakota’s Kevin Cramer
These disturbed Republicans sent a letter to the Chairman of the rating Board asking for these changes. The letter is a tale of phobia.
“In recent years,” the letter begins: “concerning topics of a sexual nature have become aggressively politized and promoted in children’s programming, including irreversible and harmful experimental treatments for mental disorders like gender dysphoria.”
It gets better.
“Considering that the cognitive markers of sexual desire emerge during puberty when adolescents undergo natural hormonal and physiological changes, it is wholly inappropriate to display this content in a TV-Y7 category and for other young audiences.”
Oh, brother. Let us dissect this elegant and masterful letter. (sarcasm.) Do the Republicans have any other topic of conversation except sex? See, there is a common thread here. All their worries seem to be traced directly back to sex. It is rather nauseating.
I wonder what shows the GOP is talking about. Could Bugs Bunny be involved? Will all cartoons now have to be run by republican eyes to make sure they’re “pure” enough, even cartoons from decades ago?
After all, those might have subliminal messaging or something! I think Republicans really need to get their minds out of peoples’ television shows and maybe come up with an idea — several ideas — any ideas? as to how to help the American people. I think that just might be asking too much, though.
